Blog

Blog is a website where people post diary entries about personal experiences and interests, about how their lives can be or have been affected by specific policy or lack of it

Digital citizen

Digital citizen is a person that participates in society using a certain amount of information technology (IT). To be a digital citizen, a person must have the skill and knowledge to interact with private and government organizations through "digital" tools such as computers or mobile phones, along with access to these devices

Digital divide

Digital divide is the gap between people with effective access to digital and information technology and those with very limited or no access at all. It includes the imbalances in physical access to technology as well as the imbalances in resources and skills needed to effectively participate as a digital citizen

e-Access

e-Access is the use of the internet and other ICTs to improve electronic access to official documents and to political information about ongoing lawmaking processes and other forms of political activity

e-democracy

e-democracy is a combination of the words "electronic" and "democracy." It represents the use of information and communication technologies and strategies within political and governance processes of local communities, nations and on the international stage

e-Government

e-Government (short for electronic government, also known as e-gov, digital government or online government) refers to the use of information and communication technology to provide and improve government services, transactions and interactions with citizens, businesses, and other arms of government

e-participation

e-participation is a term meaning “ICT-supported participation in processes involved in government and governance”. Processes may concern administration, service delivery, decision making and policy making. It is therefore closely related to e-Government

Information society

An information society is a society in which the creation, distribution, use, integration and manipulation of information is a significant economic, political, and cultural activity. People that have the means to partake in this form of society are sometimes called digital citizens

Open source

Open source is an approach to the design, development, and distribution of software, offering practical accessibility to a software’s source code. In computer science, source code is the mechanism most often used by programmers to specify the actions to be performed by a computer

Parliamentary informatics

Parliamentary informatics is the application of information technology to the documentation of legislative activity. The principal areas of concern are the provision of information and statistics about:

  • individual legislators
  • particular legislative proposals
  • votes thereon
  • text of legislation
Political blogs

Political blogs (weblogs) and online discussion forums enable information dissemination and direct discussion between citizens and politicians, permit citizens to observe preferences and behaviour of the politicians

Quick polls

Quick polls are instant web based survey that collects a public opinion via interviewing a random sample of people on a specific question with any number of responses to that question

Social network service

A social network service focuses on building online communities of people who share interests and/or activities, or who are interested in exploring the interests and activities of others. Most social network services are web based and provide a variety of ways for users to interact, such as e-mail and instant messaging services

Social software

Social software encompasses a range of software systems that allow users to interact and share data. Well-known examples are sites like MySpace, Facebook, YouTube, Amazon, e-Bay etc.

Virtual communit

A virtual community, e-community or online community is a group of people that primarily interact via communication media such as newsletters, telephone, email or instant messages rather than face to face

Web 2.0

"Web 2.0" is commonly associated with web development and web design that facilitates interactive information sharing, interoperability, user-centered design and collaboration on the World Wide Web. Examples of Web 2.0 include web-based communities, hosted services, web applications, social-networking sites, video-sharing sites etc. A Web 2.0 site allows its users to interact with other users or to change website content

World Wide Web

The World Wide Web is a system of interlinked hypertext documents accessed via the Internet. With a web browser, one can view Web pages that may contain text, images, videos and other multimedia and navigate between them
